I felt that Malachite needed a new outfit. He seems like the kind of person who would have a wide range of clothing in various colours and styles for different occasions. My approach was to imagine a less extravagant version of his main outfit and I found my inspiration in the Third Doctor from Doctor Who (1971). However, I do think it is rather blatant. If I were to draw it again, I would take steps to ensure that it has some elements that allow it to stand apart from the inspiration. As for the background, it is based on the Memphis Milano style prevalent in the 1980's.
